Encaustic Art is a 2000 year old art form which was used by the ancient Greeks, Egyptians and Romans.
This medium is painted in hot form, usually with an iron although for certain effects a hot stylus, brush or air gun is used.
The wax is melted on the sole plate of the iron and applied to special painting card in various ways to build up a picture.
The wax dries very quickly and is then polished with a soft cloth to bring up the beautiful shine and gloss to the image which has a raised texture.
The finished painting can never be truly copied no matter how skilled the artist, so each painting is a complete original that can never be repeated.
I paint in a variety of different styles and colours. Some of my paintings are on copper, framed or simply mounted to keep the price as modest as possible.
As
each painting is unique and original, each time I sell a particular
fairy painting I need to replace it with another one -so if you don't
happen to see the fairy you like in any of the paintings I have for
sale then please get in contact and let me know and I will be able to
paint you one.
Also as I attend many craft fayres etc, where I am selling my artwork
,there may (hopefully not often) be the situation of my selling a
painting, and the same one getting sold on this website on the same day. I do try to remove the painting asap once it is sold, but if you are at all concerned, then just contact me. If this does
happen, I will happily paint you a substitute .
